Destination Wedding Costa Rica | Lindsey & Chris

Day 2 of Lindsey & Chris’s fantastic destination wedding in Costa Rica was spent on the white sands of Playa Conchal. After the crazy good luck we had with the weather for their Colorado engagement session, I wouldn’t expect anything less than a perfect day for their wedding and perfect it was! The dark haired beauty quietly got ready at a Reserva Conchal resort home before their beach wedding surrounded by a small group of closest family and friends. Chris’ stunning blue-green eyes couldn’t leave Lindsey’s big beautiful smile the entire ceremony and locals lounging on the beach applauded and cheered as the newly weds and I made portraits along the shore. Reserva Conchal and the extraordinary team at Tropical Occasions continued to be fantastic hosts for a delicious dinner and open air dancing that inspired guests to bring the party into the shallow end of the pool.

Thank you so much Lindsey & Chris, my friends, two people who make each other truly happy. Your love is contagious! It was a remarkable destination wedding and I’m so happy I got to help document it. Gracias mis amigos, pura vida.

“Photos are not really my thing. I used to always feel when you have to stop to ‘capture’ a moment, you are just missing the moment. But having Kira at our wedding and shooting pictures everywhere only made everything more fun – she is everywhere and nowhere all at the same time, and when we got the pictures, we were just floored by how amazing they are! I’ve been carrying my laptop around just so I can show everyone the pictures at work! I’m pretty sure a handful of them should have made it into a magazine shoot, too. So cool!”

Kerra & Patrick | Destination Wedding in Playa del Carmen Mexico

Kerra & Patrick recited their vows standing on white powder-soft sand, looking out onto crystal clear turquoise water, with 30 of their closest family and friends watching under a perfect blue Mexican sky. Their destination wedding in Playa del Carmen Mexico was held in Maroma Beach, just north of Playa del Carmen, and has been voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. These Texas natives couldn’t have chosen a better location to have their destination wedding. The all-inclusive El Dorado Maroma threw the newlyweds an amazing beach party and I feel so lucky to have gotten to be a part of such an joyous occasion with such a fun, warm and all around beautiful couple at one of my very favorite places in the world.

Costa Rica Destination Wedding | Laura & Adrian

I couldn’t imagine a better way to end the year but with a destination wedding in Costa Rica! Costa Rican native, Adrian, never thought a tall, crimson haired, gringa from Wisconsin would steal his heart but fate brought him and Laura together in Peru while hiking the Inca trail to the sacred grounds of Machu Picchu. After a long distance courtship Laura & Adrian knew it was love and the bride to be left her cold, snowy home for the tropical paradise that is Costa Rica.

This December, an exuberant group of family and friends traveled to the small village of Manuel Antonio where they watched the overjoyed couple recite their vows as the sun set at the beautiful Hotel Costa Verde. The steamy night was full of flaming shots, Latin dancing, copious amounts of tequila and a surprise drum band that heightened the already raging party to a whole other level.

Mexico Wedding in the Riviera Maya | Travel Tuesdays

I absolutely love Mexico. I’ve only seen a fraction of the huge country but just completely adore everything about it. The beaches, the temples, the language, the yummy street tacos, the music… the list is long. Mexico is one of the very few places I have gone back to mutiple times. With so many places to see and so many things to do in this world, it says a lot that I have been back numerous times.

One of my favorite trips to Mexico was to photograph Kerra & Patrick’s destination wedding in the Riviera Maya. They were married on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Maroma Beach, at the all-inclusive resort El Dorado Maroma. The wedding was everything I imagined it would be and we even did a trash the dress session at a cenote near Playa del Carmen.

There is something special about the light in Mexico. Colors just seem more vibrant down there against the white sand beaches and crystal-clear water. They were an amazing couple to work with and I feel so fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to work in a country I love so much.

Mexico Cenote Trash the Dress Session with Kerra & Patrick

Cenotes are the only source of fresh water on the Yucatan Peninsula. They are these amazing, mystical, crystal clear pools of water usually set deep in the jungle or can be found in hidden underground caverns. I was psyched when Kerra & Patrick said they wanted to do a Trash the Dress session at one of them and I knew the perfect spot near Playa del Carmen. The underwater shoot was a breeze for Kerra, a triathlete, who is super comfortable in the water and she was so patient and willing to try all the crazy ideas I was coming up with so that we could get the best shot. Patrick was such a good sport also, cheering on his new wife even when his soaking wet suit started to make him shiver. Trash the Dress sessions are not always the easiest shoots but with an adventurous, easy-going couple like Kerra & Patrick we were able to make some beautiful images and had so much fun doing it.
