I have a confession to make. In my work as a Colorado family photographer, there’s one thing I enjoy more than photographing a moment in a family’s life…

…and it’s having the privilege of following a family over the years through multiple kinds of photography sessions!

It’s such a joy to see people go through engagement and wedding photos, then newborn photos and family photos as kids are born and grow. I think it’s one of the reasons I prefer to take natural family portraits. Working outside lets me capture each person’s unique personality and the fun dynamics among all the members of a family, whether it be between spouses or parent and child, or among siblings.

When the Perry family wanted me to be their Colorado family photographer in honor of their daughter’s first birthday, I couldn’t resist. I’ve known them for the past 10 years, and during that time, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Andrew and Leslie for their engagement, their wedding, and then as their beautiful children have come along. And as a bonus, fall family photos are some of the best when it comes to lighting, textures, and colors – they’re irresistible! I couldn’t wait for our session, and the results were worth it.

What a perfect fall day it was for Boulder family photos. The lighting was glorious and soft, yet the weather was unseasonably warm and so totally comfortable for just having fun (and letting me capture the joy their family obviously experiences together) in our outdoor photography session.

Capturing a moment in time…that’s what it’s all about when I get to photograph a family. In this moment, sweet 1-year old Louisa has just gotten in a couple of bottom teeth, taking a tiny step toward the world of childhood and away from the preciousness of the baby years. Her big brother Archer is 3, looking every bit the little man as he protects his little sister and loves her so well.

The glorious Boulder, Colorado area was in fine form – these mountain family photos showcase such a stunning backdrop that shows off this family’s playful spirit and abundant love for each other. Thanks, Perry family, for the opportunity to spend this time with you in such a lush setting!

Vail Colorado Senior Portraits

Senior portrait photography is becoming a growing part of my business and it is because of gorgeous sessions like these Vail Colorado senior portraits with the lovely Morgan. Morgan’s family is from the midwest but they have a home in Vail and she absolutely knew she wanted to do a senior session among their beautiful mountains. I don’t have any senior portrait photography on my website but Morgan simply said my photos were her favorites and she was confident I could make gorgeous senior portraits for her. It was such a compliment to hear this from such a sweet, intelligent and easy to work with beauty. Best of luck to you Morgan!

Gold Lake Event Center Wedding

Lisa & Ryan’s Gold Lake Event Center wedding was absolutely breathtaking. The warm couple welcomed me and my assistant photographer into thier cute, quaint cabins for all the fun getting ready shots before heading over to their gorgeous outdoor ceremony. Gold Lake Event Center is sacred Native American land and such a special place to host a summer wedding. The views over the lake of the Indian Peaks mountain range are stunning and the grounds are a perfect place to pitch a tent and host an outdoor reception.

I loved how many unscripted moments we were able to capture at this wedding! From the happy couple’s authentic smiles, to the wild dance party, this Gold Lake Event Center wedding was definitely one for the books and one I feel proud to share. Hope you like them!

Natural Family Portraits

Long-time clients Rachael & Chris welcomed a baby girl this spring and I am just in love with these natural family portraits. Less than two weeks old, sweet Aria, and her adoring parents had a relaxing shoot in the comfort of their Boulder, Colorado home. Newborn photography is best at home where you can relax and the baby can be surrounded by familiar objects. Natural family portraits are some of my favorite sessions. I just love these sweet moments and these awesome clients. This was the third time I have had the pleasure of working with them and I can honestly say there is no greater compliment for me as a photographer than to be asked back to photograph the same wonderful people during all of their family milestones.

Natural Family Portraits

I’m a bit behind on my blogging but wanted to share these beautiful natural family portraits from Boulder, Colorado. These documentary family photos are actually the result of two sessions. I met the sweet Young family late last summer when they were a family of four and then was ecstatic when they invited me back to photograph their newborn baby girl this spring.

When they were four we met out by the Flatirons in the stunning late day sun and had so much fun running around through the tall, golden grass and climbing on rocks. When their baby arrived, she was only 2 weeks old so we met at their home where everyone could be most relaxed and comfortable. I love home sessions. They are unscripted, real and where we can capture the most natural moments.

I am looking to book more natural family portraits. With a background in photojournalism, day in the life sessions are something I have been itching to break in to. So if you are interested in having me capture real, candid, natural family moments please get in touch!

Boulder Engagement Session | Heather & Michael Boulder, CO

This was my first time doing a surprise Boulder engagement session! Heather contacted me about wanting to do a shoot with her boyfriend, Michael, while they were vacationing in Colorado from Missouri. What Heather did not know was that Michael had contacted me also and was planning on asking her to marry him during their Boulder engagement session. We set it all up, met at a beautiful location in Boulder, and completely surprised Heather! It was such a fun shoot and so wonderful to see these young, incredibly in love, sweet people become engaged.
