Couldn’t ask for a more perfect day or backdrop for Ryan and Stacey’s fall engagement shoot in Vail, Colorado. The aspen trees were peaking, the sky was blue and there was even a little snow on the ground. Super excited to photograph this fun couple’s wedding next summer in Estes Park!

Wedding Photography Favorites from 2011 | Travel Tuesdays
I love being motivated and inspired by my peers so I look at other photographers’ work daily. It pushes me to be a better wedding photographer and keep up with what’s going on in the industry. However, I can’t help but sometimes feel overwhelmed by it. So often I find it refreshing to go back and just look at my own work. 2011 is a year I am really proud of. I worked with such diverse couples and got to photograph weddings all over the state of Colorado. Plus, I got to travel to Mexico and Iowa for destination weddings. Total bonus! I love, LOVE, destination weddings!
Throughout the years it has been great to see my progress as a photographer and reflect on how far I have come at developing a style uniquely my own. I will continue to seek out and admire other photographers to remind myself of ways I can continue to grow but also take a moment to exhale, trusting that I am on the right path. Here are some of my favorites from 2011.

Fort Collins Summer Wedding | Casi & Nick
Casi & Nick were married in Fort Collins in the backyard of the bride’s parent’s home. It was one of the hottest weekends of the year but despite the scorching heat the wedding was a total success and all of their hard work and planning came together perfectly. I loved the homemade quilts, sewn by the bride’s grandma, that covered the bails of hay which served as seating for guests during their ceremony, and the completely original and hilarious dance/song Casi’s brother and sister performed during the toasting. As the blazing sun finally set and the air cooled, guests kicked up their heels and swung each other around as an amazing local bluegrass band played long into the evening.
Thank you so much Patrick Kramer for your help again. The moments you captured during the ceremony are priceless.
Thanks also to Casi & Nick who once again made my job such a pleasure! Your joy and love was written all over your faces and it was such an honor to document.
From the bride…
“Kira was a pleasure to work with on our wedding day! She has a true talent at capturing authentic moments! We are thrilled with our photos and feel like we are reliving that incredible day just by looking at the photos!”

Boulder Engagement Photography | Amanda & Mike
Such a smiley fun couple! We lucked out with a few hours of sunshine the weekend of the horrific floods and made the best of a quick engagement session out at Chautauqua Park and on the campus of the University of Colorado Boulder where the happy couple met. Can’t wait for their Granby Ranch wedding next year!

Boulder/ Niwot Wedding Photography | Colorado Weddings
World travelers Erin and Ben took a break from their wanderings to come back to Erin’s home in Niwot, Colorado for a backyard wedding. Her parents have a beautiful property just outside of Boulder which made for a perfect setting for this summer wedding. The day was full of fun and surprises which included three skydivers who carried American, Canadian and a combination of the two flags (Ben is from Canada) that landed right in the middle of cocktail hour. What a great event! Thanks so much to Calluna Events for keeping things running smoothly and my talented second shooter Patrick Kramer for all of his hard work.
