Alexis and Garrett love the mountains of Colorado but decided to have their destination wedding back in the small town of Nelson, New Hampshire where they grew up surrounded by all of their friends, families and newborn baby girl.
Nelson, New Hampshire is beautiful and tiny, and remote. Alexis’ family cabin on Silver Lake made the most perfect backdrop for their wedding ceremony and their tented backyard wedding hosted a wonderful party well in to the evening. Kids played barefoot in the yard, adult beverages cooled in a canoe filled with ice and guests tore up the dancefloor. The whole event felt very authentic, very joyful, very Alexis and Garrett.
“How do you feel about climbing that rock?” is a question I surprisingly ask many of my couples! Luckily, I work with such fun-loving and adventurous people they are usually game, even in their wedding attire. Alexis and Garrett were no different and their willingness to scramble up a giant boulder to pacify my creativity worked out to one of my favorite sunset photos of all time. So thank you, Alexis and Garrett, for your hospitality, openness and adventurous spirits. I am so honored I was asked to document your lakeside destination wedding. It was truly a blast and so fun working in a new location!

“Kira flew all the way to NH to shoot my wedding just days after her own wedding! She and I had spoken over the phone and come up with an idea of what my husband and I were hoping for, and Kira came in having never seen our venue and was able to quickly get some visions for some beautiful photos. She really has a special eye for capturing those quick moments and really capturing the real/raw emotion of those fleeting seconds on the faces of everyone. Day 2 of Lindsey & Chris’s fantastic destination wedding in Costa Rica was spent on the white sands of Playa Conchal. After the crazy good luck we had with the weather for their Colorado engagement session, I wouldn’t expect anything less than a perfect day for their wedding and perfect it was! The dark haired beauty quietly got ready at a Reserva Conchal resort home before their beach wedding surrounded by a small group of closest family and friends. Chris’ stunning blue-green eyes couldn’t leave Lindsey’s big beautiful smile the entire ceremony and locals lounging on the beach applauded and cheered as the newly weds and I made portraits along the shore. Reserva Conchal and the extraordinary team at Tropical Occasions continued to be fantastic hosts for a delicious dinner and open air dancing that inspired guests to bring the party into the shallow end of the pool.
Thank you so much Lindsey & Chris, my friends, two people who make each other truly happy. Your love is contagious! It was a remarkable destination wedding and I’m so happy I got to help document it. Gracias mis amigos, pura vida.

“Photos are not really my thing. I used to always feel when you have to stop to ‘capture’ a moment, you are just missing the moment. But having Kira at our wedding and shooting pictures everywhere only made everything more fun – she is everywhere and nowhere all at the same time, and when we got the pictures, we were just floored by how amazing they are! I’ve been carrying my laptop around just so I can show everyone the pictures at work! I’m pretty sure a handful of them should have made it into a magazine shoot, too. So cool!”
There were so many things I loved about this wedding. From the bride’s gorgeous vintage jewelry and smokin’ cowboy boots to the groomsmen’s chocolate brown suits and wheat inspired boutineers, Kate & Adam put so much thought and love into all their fall wedding details it made this wedding truly a special event. They recited their vows at the Chapel at Red Rocks in Morrison with the iconic red rock formations as their backdrop and they celebrated with their friends and families at Golden’s Fossil Trace Golf Club. These were two new venues for me and I had so much fun exploring their incredible grounds making photos with the bride and groom.
